Sesklo 1.0.4: a new home screen, and a search box that finds the right kind of help
Sesklo 1.0.4 is rolling out on the App Store and Google Play now, alongside a matching update to sesklo.com. This release is about the first thing you see. Until now, sesklo.com and the apps opened on our mascot and three cards asking you to pick a workflow before you'd told us anything about the job. Now they open on a photograph and a search box: say what you need, and Sesklo works out what kind of help that is.
For everyone — both apps and the website
- A new home screen. The mascot opener is replaced by a full-width kitchen photograph dissolving into a map of pinned jobs, with a search box in the middle of it. Scroll to the bottom and a matching living-room photo closes the page with the same search box, so you can start from either end.
- Type what you need. The search box matches what you type — "leaky faucet", "lawn care", "bathroom remodel" — against every job category and every fixed-price service, and shows the matches as you type. Pick one and you're in the right place: a custom-quote request for a project, direct booking for a fixed-price service, or a recurring plan for ongoing upkeep. If nothing matches exactly, describe the job in your own words and Sesklo suggests the closest fit before you commit to a category.
- Recurring is flagged in the results. Categories that also offer recurring upkeep carry a gold "Recurring available" badge beside the fixed-price badge, so you can see your options before you pick.
- Fixed-price services show up by name. Search for a fixed-price service and it appears as its own result, not just as the category it sits under — and every one of them books directly.
- See all Sesklo services in one place. A link under the search box opens every way to get work done, in three tabs: custom quotes for projects, fixed-price services, and recurring plans from local providers. Every category now carries a short description of what it covers, and every row you can tap shows a chevron to say so.
For everyone — the website
- Search on the services page. The custom-quotes tab of the new All Sesklo Services page has its own search box, matching on a category's name, its description, and the plain-language names people actually use for it.
- A clearer front page. The home page now leads with "Take great care of your property", the three-card workflow grids are gone, and a sign-in line sits under both search boxes for anyone already on Sesklo.
- Verifying a new phone number texts you a link. Change the phone number on your account and the confirmation now arrives by text, the way an email change arrives by email.
For everyone — both apps
- A menu instead of a strip. The landing's sections — About, Pricing, Blog, Community, Roadmap and the rest — move off the horizontal strip into a Menu button pinned top-right: over the photo on Home, and in the same spot on every other page.
- Tap "Sesklo" to go home. Tapping the Sesklo name in the top bar returns you to Home; tapping it again on Home scrolls you back to the top.
- Notifications that read as tappable. Notification rows carry the standard trailing chevron, and opening an article from a notification now gives you a proper back button instead of stranding you on the post.
- Sign-in no longer sticks on a blank screen. If the app remembered an account type your login doesn't hold — possible after combining accounts on the website — it could sit on an empty placeholder after sign-in. It now lands you on the right screen, and signing out clears that remembered choice on iOS the way it already did on Android.
- Failed uploads say why. If a profile photo, business photo, or logo upload fails, you now see the reason under the picker instead of a spinner that quietly stops.
For service providers — both apps
- Your business photo in the top bar. Solo providers keep their photo on the business rather than on a team member, and the apps were only looking in the second place — so the top-bar avatar came up empty. It now shows your business photo.
- Top-bar spacing on iOS. A short business name no longer sits in a wide empty box; it hugs the inbox bubble the way it should.
Android only
- Edge-to-edge hero photos. The home photographs now run all the way to the right side instead of stopping short.
- No gap above the job request sheet. Starting a job request opens a sheet that reaches the top of the screen.
- A softer fade. On About, Pricing, Blog, Community and Roadmap, content now fades gradually under the top bar as you scroll instead of cutting off at a hard line.
Behind the scenes
This release also carries a round of security hardening across the website and the service that both apps talk to — tighter checks on internal endpoints, request limits that hold across servers, and stricter browser security headers. None of it changes how you use Sesklo. It's the kind of work you should never notice.
If you have automatic updates turned on, you'll get 1.0.4 without doing anything. The matching website update is live now.
