Sesklo 1.0.8: crew alerts and time approval, follow-up reminders, and a heads-up when your visit is booked
Sesklo 1.0.8 is rolling out on the App Store and Google Play now, and the matching update to sesklo.com is already live. Most of this release is for service providers who run a crew: what a crew member sees, what they are told, and how their hours get from the job site to the work log. There is one change homeowners will notice straight away, too.
For homeowners — the mobile app and the website
- You are told when your visit is booked. When a provider puts your job on their calendar, you now get a notification naming the day and time, and the scheduling email or text if you have those turned on. Before, a new booking was silent unless it was later moved.
- A provider's phone line appears on their profile. Providers who use Sesklo's receptionist line now show a Call link on their directory card and profile. It is the business line they publish through Sesklo, never a personal number.
For homeowners — the website
- Accept a proposed time on any quoted job. When a provider proposes times for your visit, you can pick one on the website whatever plan they are on. The compare view also shows each bidder's bio and what their quote includes. These two went live on the website a few days ahead of this release.
For service providers — the mobile app and the website
- Crew members get their own alerts. A team member is now notified when they are assigned a job, when one of their visits is moved or cancelled, when a customer replies on their job, and when their time is approved or sent back. Each person sets how they hear about these, and their own quiet hours, on My Account.
- Crew members no longer see money. Team members do not see the Payments tab, invoice documents, recurring prices or payment notifications. Owners and admins see everything they did before.
- Time goes through approval on teams. A crew member submits their hours, whether they came from GPS, the timer or typing them in, and an owner or admin approves them or sends them back with one tap. Detected arrival and departure times are shown beside each entry, and everyone gets a weekly My Time card: logged, scheduled ahead and awaiting approval.
- Decide whether your crew can reschedule. A new switch under Settings, Scheduling controls whether team members may move or cancel their own customer visits. With it off they can still mark a visit on my way, on site and complete.
- Visit status and an on-site clock in the app. Mark a visit on my way, on site or complete from the app, and the visit sheet now shows the job description and how long it is booked for. On the website you can mark a visit complete without stepping through every status first.
- Follow-up reminders on customers and prospects. Add a dated reminder to any customer or prospect and Sesklo reminds you on the day. Reminders that are due sit at the top of your Customer Database. On team accounts, each record also shows who contacted the customer last.
- Checklist items can require a photo. Mark an item photo-required and it cannot be ticked off without one.
- Open milestones hold a project open. A project with a milestone still to finish cannot be marked complete, and Sesklo names the milestone that is in the way.
- Quantities on job costs. A cost line can carry a quantity and a unit cost, and a scanned receipt fills them in when it can.
- Invoice activity at a glance. Each invoice shows when it was sent, viewed and paid. Customers you added by creating a job for them now show their jobs and revenue.
- “Remaining to invoice” is measured before tax. The figure was running short by the tax already billed, so a final invoice could come out under by that amount. It is correct now.
- The receptionist pauses instead of disappearing. If you move below Pro, your receptionist number is kept and paused: callers hear that you are not taking calls right now, and the number comes back on by itself when you return to Pro. You get one notification and one email when it pauses.
- Campaigns go only to customers who opted in, and reports use your business's own day boundaries rather than a fixed time zone.
- The Sesklo default quote and invoice designs are view-only. Duplicate one to make your own. In the app, Job Costing now appears only on plans that include it, where before it opened to an error on Basic.
For service providers — the mobile app
- Caller names and the platform fee show in the app. The receptionist log names the caller when Sesklo knows them, and a paid invoice shows what the customer paid on top of your price.
For service providers — the website
- Edit a draft invoice where it sits. Add a line to a draft in the Invoices list and send it from there. Drafts started from a deposit, progress or final amount were also failing to save on the website; they save now.
- More on the schedule. The visit popup shows the customer, project, duration and job, with an Open in Maps link. Solo accounts can drop a job straight onto the calendar, and the unscheduled list shows the customer's name beside each project ID.
- Team members can only change their own visits. On the website, a team member could edit a teammate's visit. That is closed: members change only visits assigned to them. This fix went live ahead of the release.
- A simpler way to apply as a Founding Provider. The service-provider page now leads with three buttons, apply to the Founding Provider program, start a free trial, or see pricing, and the pricing page has its own button to see if you qualify.
For everyone — the mobile app
- Terms and Privacy Policy open from the signup screen. The two phrases in the line under the Create account button are now links.
For everyone — the website
- The Privacy Policy says more about payments. It now names the bank-account details and identity checks Stripe handles for payouts, with a link to Stripe's own policy.
If you have automatic updates turned on, 1.0.8 reaches your phone on its own. The matching website update is live now.
